The Accessible Product Guide is an online tool developed by the Institute for Better Communities (IFBC) in collaboration with accessibility experts from Steven Winter Associates, Inc. The Accessible Product Guide aims to embody IFBC’s mission to improve the health, sustainability, and resiliency of communities nationwide by connecting architects, builders, and developers with products that meet a wide range of accessible and Universal Design strategies.
In some cases, featured products may satisfy requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and/ or other accessibility laws and building codes; while other products simply help to improve access to and usability of spaces for a wide array of building occupants. The Accessible Product Guide can be used by practitioners of residential, retail, and commercial facilities; and, will offer solutions for those following accessible, inclusive, sustainable, and Universal Design strategies. Note that in all cases, a product’s ability to satisfy the requirements of any applicable law and/ or code must be certified on a case-by-case basis.
